BANDS & MUSICIANS

This section is not meant to be a comprehensive overview of every kind of music and every musician that ever lived, just the music and musicians I recommend listening to and seeing live. I have very eclectic tastes in music, but I do dislike a few genres almost completely, hence bands of those genres are not listed. I'm not all that into reggae, but I have included links that must list and link to every reggae band that ever existed. I also haven't completed some genres, so please bare with me for awhile.

I will add more bands, musicians and links to the site as soon as I discover them. I'll gladly listen to any band or musician anyone recommends to me and add them to the site if I like them. Please e-mail any recommendations to steve@musicphotographics.com. Thanks!

The genres themselves and in which genres I placed the bands and musicians are necessarily subjective. I could have placed many of the bands and musicians in several different genres -- including some genres and sub-genres not even listed here -- because a band's music is often a combination of different genres of music, and bands often change styles completely throughout their career (i.e., Neil Young, Ry Cooder, Herbie Hancock). Since that would have been much too time-consuming, I merely placed them in the genre I felt best represented most of their music over the course of their careers. For the sake of simplicity and time I also did not differentiate between "genres" and "styles."

Although there's a list of Jam Bands, all the links and line-ups are under the genre I think best represents their music as a whole, because the Jam Band genre includes too many styles of music and is not remotely descriptive enough to give any idea of what a band sounds like.
